4/18/2013: Day 29

I could tell you all about our boring start to the day (meals, chores, school, etc.)…or I could just cut to the chase and dish the good stuff.  I think I’ll do a play by play of our entire day.

Just kidding!  The end of the day was the best part so let’s start there.

This evening we had our first “campground guests”!  We were so excited for them to come over and hang out around the fire with us.  And what better thing to do at a campsite than cookout!  We had all the “fixin’s”…hamburgers, hotdogs, coleslaw (on the recipe page), chips, and (of course) S’mores! DSC_0419[1] DSC_0424[1] DSC_0425[1] DSC_0417[1] DSC_0415[1] DSC_0412[1]  DSC_0423[1] DSC_0414[1]

And I want to shout out a big thank you to our neighbor for lending us his charcoal grill.  Can you believe we are living in a camper and don’t have a grill???  Yeah, me either.  We didn’t have room to bring ours back the last trip we made to VA so, here we are…grill-less!  But it all worked out perfectly anyway (thank the Lord for good neighbors).  This was the most enjoyable evening we’ve had since we’ve been here.  There’s nothing like good friends, good food, and good laughs to make for a great time.  The dirt on my girls’ feet was a testament to how much they enjoyed it!  I mentioned yesterday that I wanted to post a picture of Bitsy since her grooming…not going to happen.  She joined in on the festivities as well and let’s just say after it was all over she was missing 2 hairbows and had to have another haircut (roasted marshmallow disaster).  Not pretty.

I have to say, my new friend is spoiling us!  She not only brought more eggs but made one of my favorite pastries…homemade cream cheese danishes (isn’t it amazing how God puts special people in our lives right when we need them?).  DSC_0428[1]

Looking forward to a cup of coffee with this in the morning!

  1. Kristy, I love reading your posts and especially look at the pictures. Looks like you all are having a lot of fun and eating some good food. Makes me want to go camping. Looks like you have a neighboring entertainer also. Does he play and sing gospel music? That makes camping wonderful to have someone play and sing some good music at the end of the day. I still miss you all back here in VA.
