I woke up early this morning to fix a good breakfast for my hubby. He usually eats his favorite every morning before work (PB & honey toast) so on mornings when he’s home I try to make something special that he enjoys. Today it just so happened to be something we all love…BACON!!! We eat it rarely for obvious reasons (7 gr of fat per 2 slices of bacon…seriously? I could eat the whole pack by myself) and I try to buy natural when we do eat it so we don’t get the nitrites (bad stuff). That makes me feel a little better about feeding it to my family. And what better companion to bacon than scrambled eggs, toast, and coffee? There’s something so amazing about the taste of coffee and bacon together…can I get a witness? What topped it all off was sitting around the fire pit in our camping chairs, with the sun peeking through the trees, listening to the birds sing their praises to God. It was awesome. It’s moments like these that I am soooo grateful for this amazing opportunity that God is giving us. I can seriously see ourselves doing this for a LONG time. I’m not sure we’re ready for a “normal” life yet!
Even though I was up early and rushing everyone around trying to get ready, we were still late to church! I hope we can soon get it together on Sunday mornings and get there on time. I took Sarah to children’s church and Emma decided to stay as well. I stayed with them and Andrew and Anna went to the sanctuary for the service. I hated to miss it but it was good to be in a classroom with kids again too. Young kids can sure wear you out, though! Wouldn’t it be grand to have their energy for just one day? I can’t even imagine the things I could get accomplished!
Speaking of energy (lack of in my case today), when we got home from church we all piled on mine and Andrew’s bed and turned on Andy Griffith. I picked up a book I’ve been reading and, you’ll never believe this, but I got so sleepy I couldn’t hold my eyes open. I’m beginning to see a trend here…I sit, I sleep. So I just laid down and slept for almost two hours! It was great! It felt good! When I woke up it was a few minutes after five (we have to leave for church by 5:30 to make it there on time) so needless to say, we were late for the evening service as well. It was great too and they served cake and ice cream for seniors that graduated from high school. It was so enjoyable to get to sit and talk to some of the church members that we haven’t gotten to know very well and some that we have. Good times.
We got back home and had a snack of salsa, cheese dip, and chips and got the girls in the bed. Now I have to head that way too. Andrew and I are going to TRY to get up at 5 in the morning to go for a 5 miles power walk…we’ll see how well that goes (we gotta work off the bacon…and cake and ice cream).
Have a blessed night!
