We are headed to the Little League Softball World Series!!!
Now, before I go any further, let me explain the events from the weekend. Saturday the girls played 4 games (in the sweltering sun, mind you) and pulled out a win in all four! The parents were all so exhausted by the time the day was done, which wasn’t until after 10pm! Notice I said “the parents.” You would think the girls would’ve been dragging but, they are kids, so they were rearing to go when we got back to the hotel! I had to be firm after letting them run around a bit and make them bath (except Sarah… she conked out on the ride back) and get to bed. Why is it always mom that has to ruin the fun? Sometimes I wish someone else could be the “bad guy”…like Daddy.
Anyhow, we all got a decent nights sleep and were back up early this morning getting ready for field time. We were going to battle with none other than Whitfield County, yes, the same team that beat us Thursday night (and by the way, this is what I told Andrew would end up happening). The girls played a hard game and held them better than any other team that played them this weekend. In the end, it just wasn’t enough. They took the loss at 6-0. Of course we would’ve rather had the win but runners up for the state championship title is nothing to scoff at! They all received beautiful trophies and the best award that could’ve been given…The Sportsmanship Award! That is something to really be proud of! And what topped off the whole thing is our team was invited, even though they came in second, to play in the World Series in Mississippi! How exciting! We couldn’t believe it! Now there is much fundraising to do. It will be a long, expense trip but one that they may never get the chance to participate in again. This is the experience of a lifetime! If they don’t come home with the win, they will be bringing back lots of memories and experience!
I’m cramming in photos from the games this weekend. There’s several!
This one needs an explanation…
Andrew found this at Academy Sports and we had to get it. The slogan on the side of the box read, “Grandpa always said if ya got chapped lips, put chicken poop on ’em so you won’t lick ’em.” I think someone in my family used to say the same thing because that sounded very familiar (my uncle Gerald is coming to mind)! 🙂 The label also states it doesn’t contain chicken poop (I double checked the ingredients and gave it a good sniff too). 😉
I’ll try to stay on top of blogging at the World Series so you’ll know how they’re doing! Go Lady Indians!!!
