Happy Independence Day!!!
“I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land.
God bless the U.S.A.”
That song always gets me. I can hear it and such patriotism wells up inside me. I know that our nation seems to be on a downward spiral but we still live in the greatest nation on earth. However, I’m not sure how long we will be able to say that. If only we would humble ourselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, then God would hear from heaven and forgive our sins, and heal our land (see 2 Chronicles 7:14). That’s what this world needs, is a healing of sin from God.
We had a very rainy fourth of July (I’m sure most of you did). Thanks to our wonderful friends, Israel and Sherri, the day wasn’t a “wash out.” They invited us to her parents’ house on the lake to celebrate the day. And let me just say that these Georgia women can cook!!! She had a spread that would make your tongue flap your eyeballs out (one of those sayings from back home)…baked turkey, smoked pork and deer, green bean casserole, roasted veggies, cheesy pasta, Mexican cornbread, berry trifle, chocolate cake, and homemade ice cream. It was one of those meals that caused you to commit that sin that no one likes to talk about (gluttony, for those who really may not know and a reminder for those who do). 😉
We had such a wonderful day and it was so nice to get out of the camper for awhile and forget about the rain. We played Phase 10 (there were so many of us playing I thought it was going to turn into “the game that never ended”) and the kids ran around and played. Thankfully, they had a BIG house with lots of room!
I am so thankful for the friends God has placed in our lives since we have moved here (I know I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again)! It feels good to know He holds it all in the palm of His hands!
And one last picture…this has to be the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever eaten…thanks for sharing Israel (I know it wasn’t easy). 😉
